How do I transfer files directly from Android to PC wireless without usb?

My phone storage is nearly full and I need to transfer my videos and photos to PC for freeing up the space.  I am Looking for the best way to move over 30GB of photos and videos from my Android to my Windows PC without a USB cable. I need to keep the original files and quality, and I want to do it directly over my home Wi-Fi.

I've considered cloud services like Google Photos, but re-downloading that much data to my PC seems inefficient. Bluetooth is far too slow for this volume. I need a direct wireless transfer method that's fast and reliable.

What are your recommended to transfer files form Android to PC wirelessly without usb for a one-time bulk transfer this large? I'm on the same network and prefer something straightforward that won't compress my media. Thanks for any suggestions.

For transferring really large amounts of data quickly (like tens or hundreds of GB), a dedicated file transfer app is usually the better choice for transferring files from Android to PC wirelessly without USB cable. It's built specifically for speed and stability, so you don’t have to rely on slow drag-and-drop copies or flaky network sharing.

Most file transfer apps optimize the process by using smarter buffering, multi-thread transfers, automatic resume, and better error handling. That means fewer failed transfers, less time wasted restarting, and much more consistent performance especially over Wi-Fi.

They also tend to make the whole process simpler: you can queue folders, verify copied files, track progress clearly, and move everything in one go. If you want fast, reliable, and stress-free file transfer, a dedicated transfer tool is the most practical option.

Using Syncthing-Fork is a great free and open-source way to transfer files from Android to PC. It operates as a peer-to-peer synchronization tool, meaning it directly syncs files between devices over your local network or the internet, without relying on cloud services.

    1. Install Syncthing-Fork on Both Devices

    2. Set Up Devices and Share Folders

Launch Syncthing-Fork on your Android, and do the same on your PC.

Each device generates a unique ID. You need to pair the devices by exchanging these IDs.

On your Android, choose a folder you want to sync (e.g., a specific folder for transfers).

On your PC, select or create a folder where files will be saved.

Add each device to the other’s list of trusted devices by entering the device IDs.

Approve the sharing on both sides.

    3. Start Syncing

Once paired, Syncthing-Fork will automatically sync files between the selected folders whenever both devices are online and connected.

Transferred files from Android  to PC in the shared folder, and vice versa.

    Use Case:

Ideal for regular, secure, and private file transfers.

Great for syncing photos, documents, or any files without cables.

Works over Wi-Fi or mobile data, depending on your setup.

Using a USB-C Ethernet dongle (or a USB-C to Ethernet adapter) can be an effective way to transfer files from Android device to PC over a wired connection, especially if you're looking to avoid Wi-Fi limitations or want a more stable, faster transfer. Here’s how it works and what you need to do:

How the USB-C Ethernet Dongle Trick Works

    • Connect the dongle: Plug the USB-C Ethernet dongle into your Android device.
    • Connect to LAN: Use an Ethernet cable to connect both your Android device and PC to the same local network (router or switch).
    • Configure network sharing: Your Android device can be set up to share its storage over the network, or you can set up a network sharing protocol directly.

Steps for File Transfer from Android to PC via Ethernet

    1. Connect everything:

    • Insert the USB-C Ethernet dongle into your Android device.
    • Connect your Android and PC to the same router or switch via Ethernet cables.

    2. Configure Android for network sharing:

    • Some Android devices may automatically recognize the Ethernet connection.
    • Use a file manager app like Solid Explorer or CX File Explorer that supports network protocols.
    • Enable FTP server or SMB sharing on your Android device (via apps like Simple FTP Server or WiFi File Transfer).

    3. Access files on PC:

    • On your Windows PC, open File Explorer.
    • Enter the network address (e.g., ftp://<Android_IP>:<port> or \\<Android_IP>\sharedfolder).
    • Transfer files directly, maintaining original quality.

Here's how to transfer files from Android to PC:

    1. Install the Apps: You download and install the "Your Phone" app on your Windows PC and the "Your Phone Companion" app on your Android device from the Microsoft Store and Google Play Store, respectively.

    2. Connect Your Devices: You link your Android phone to your PC by signing into the same Microsoft account and following the setup instructions, which usually involve scanning a QR code or signing in with your Microsoft account.

    3. Access Files: Once connected, you can view your Android phone's photos, messages, and notifications directly from your PC. You can also easily transfer files from Android to iPhone—such as photos, videos, or documents—by dragging and dropping them.

    4. Seamless Transfer: The process is smooth and integrated, allowing quick file sharing without cables or third-party apps. It works over Wi-Fi or your local network, making it fast and convenient.

Wi-Fi Direct/FTP is a wireless yet fast option to transfer files from android to pc, with a speed of 5-30 MB/s depending on Wi-Fi conditions, and it is best suited for medium-sized file transfers without the need for cables.

    1. Computer Settings: Go to “Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Nearby Share” and toggle the feature on.

    2. Mobile Settings: Go to “Settings > Google > Devices   sharing > Nearby Share” and toggle the feature on

    3. File Transfer: On your Android device, select the files to transfer, tap “Share,” choose “Nearby Share,” then select the target computer to complete the transfer.

While its speed may be affected by Wi-Fi conditions, it excels by eliminating cable constraints. This method enables file transfers between Android devices and computers without requiring a data cable, making it highly suitable for transferring medium-sized files.
