How do I remove watermarks from photos free in Windows 11?
- Nov 02, 2025
I had the same issue after losing my originals — all my site images had that stubborn watermark baked in. I ended up using "VisioMint" on laptop, and honestly, its AI "Remove Watermark" tool cleaned them up in seconds without blurring or messing up the background, I like it!

Peint.NET is a good choice for free image editing on Windows 11, especially if you're looking to remove watermarks from photo manually. While it doesn't have advanced AI tools like some paid software, its Clone Stamp and Healing Brush tools can help remove watermarks with some patience and skill.
How to Remove Watermarks from photo Using Peint.NET
1. Download and Install Peint.NET
2. Open Your Watermarked Image
- Launch Peint.NET.
- Go to File > Open and select your image.
3. Use the Clone Stamp Tool
- In the toolbar, select the Clone Stamp Tool (it looks like a rubber stamp).
- Adjust the brush size and hardness in the toolbar at the top — a softer edge usually helps blend better.
- Hold down Ctrl and click on a clean area near the watermark to sample it.
- Release Ctrl, then click or paint over the watermark to cover it with the sampled pixels.
- Repeat sampling and painting until the watermark is sufficiently covered.
4. Use the Healing Tool (Optional)
- Peint.NET doesn’t have a dedicated Healing Brush, but you can mimic healing by carefully cloning from nearby areas.
- Alternatively, you can use third-party plugins for more advanced healing, but that's optional.
5. Fine-Tune the Result
- Use zoom (hold Ctrl + mouse wheel or the zoom tool) to work precisely.
- Switch between sampling and painting as needed for seamless blending.
6. Save the Edited Image
- Once satisfied, go to File > Save As to save your edited photo.
