How do I record my screen on Windows 11 with sound
The built-in screen recording tools in Windows 11 (mainly Xbox Game Bar and Snipping Tool) are indeed convenient and easy to use. However, by design, they are:
- More suitable for lightweight, short-term recordings
- Very limited when it comes to audio control
- Not ideal for professional or long-duration recording tasks
With Xbox Game Bar, it’s quite common to encounter issues where audio from certain browsers, conferencing apps, media players, or other desktop applications is not detected or recorded properly.
As for Snipping Tool, its video recording feature was added relatively recently (it previously only supported standalone audio recording). While it works fine for short clips under about 10 minutes, it tends to struggle with longer sessions, where problems such as crashes, audio desynchronization, or missing sound can occur.
If your work clearly requires high-quality screen recording, such as independently controlling system audio and microphone input, capturing clear audio without frame drops, or recording long meetings, gameplay, or presentations without interruptions, it’s generally better to use a third-party screen recording tool like OBS or RecExperts.
You can find more details about these options on Microsoft Store if you’d like to explore them further.
