How can I unfreeze my iPhone stuck on the Apple logo after an update?
DFU Restore. This is another solution for unfreezing an iPhone when it is stuck on Apple logo loop and black screen.
DFU stands for Device Firmware Update. It is a special, deeper state of recovery on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. While "Recovery Mode" only restores the operating system (iOS/iPadOS), DFU mode allows you to change the underlying firmware and the bootloader itself.
How to fix iphone stuck on Apple logo loop and black screen
If the "Update" fails or your iPhone keeps restarting, you need a DFU restore to completely wipe and reinstall the system, which erases all data .
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to your computer and open Finder or iTunes.
Step 2: Follow the steps below for your model:
iPhone 8 & Newer: Press Volume Up → Press Volume Down → Hold the Side button until the screen goes black → Immediately hold Volume Down + Side for 5 seconds → Release Side, keep holding Volume Down for 10 more seconds .
(For older models, search for "iPhone DFU mode instructions").
Step 3: If successful, the screen will stay black and your computer will say "iPhone has been detected in DFU mode."
Step 4: Click "Restore" in Finder/iTunes.
