How can I make an old Windows PC run faster?
I have an old Windows PC that has become slow and unresponsive over time, and I want to improve its performance. What are effective ways to make my older Windows computer run faster without replacing hardware, such as optimizing settings, cleaning up files, or using specific tools or adjustments?

An older PC can feel better without new hardware, but find limiting resource rather than installing “optimizer” tools. Restart it, open Task Manager and check whether CPU, memory, disk, or network stays high while it is idle. Disable only nonessential startup apps you recognize, remove unused software, and use Storage settings or Disk Cleanup to free space. Keep Windows and drivers current, and run a Microsoft Defender scan if the slowdown is unexpected. If the system has a mechanical hard drive, allow Windows to optimize it; do not manually defragment an SSD. Test again after each change so you know what helped. A nearly full drive, too many startup apps, and obsolete software are common causes, but an aging processor, limited RAM, or failing disk cannot be solved permanently by settings. Back up important files before deeper changes, and seek service if Task Manager shows repeated disk saturation or errors.
