macOS Sierra (10.12) is too old to run on most of MacBook Pro. This is the reason why you can't create bootable USB install for old MacBook Pro, including:
- MacBook Pro 2012
- MacBook Pro 2015
- MacBook Pro 2017
- MacBook Pro M1
- MacBook Pro M2
To make a bootable USB for old Macs, one of the most crucial steps is to find a working dmg file that contains the bootable OS. After that, burn the dmg file to USB in order to make it bootable. You can do this on any Windows PC or Mac. There is no system requirement and compatibility issues with this trick!
P.S. The official createinstallmedia command won't work on modern Mac if you are trying to make bootable USB install for MacBook Pro 2012/2015/2017/2018! The reason is that the macOS Install Sierra app is too old to work on a new Mac.
