How can I backup Android phone to pc using usb or wirelessly?

I can't find a tool or feature on Windows 11 for backing up Android to my pc before factory reset. USB backup or wireless backup are fine for me. The biggest problem is that the phone has more than 100GB of files, apps and data to be backed up. Most of them are photos and videos taken on the phone.

It is a Samsung Galaxy S23 with the latest Android 16. And I am trying to find a way to backup android phone to pc using usb or wirelessly that works best on my Windows 11 laptop.

    1. Enable Developer Options on your Android device:

Settings > About phone > Tap "Build number" 7 times.

    2. Enable USB Debugging:

Settings > Developer options > USB debugging.

    3. Connect your phone to your PC via USB.

    4. Set up ADB on your PC:

Download and install the Android SDK Platform Tools from the official Android developer site.

    5. Run the backup script:

The script automates commands like adb backup with specified options.

Example command: adb backup -apk -shared -all -f backup.ab

You can customize the script to include or exclude certain data.

To reliably back up an Android phone to a PC, a comprehensive backup checklist is essential before performing a factory reset. This enables us to systematically organise critical data, ensuring that photographs, application information, system settings and other content are backed up without omission.

    Media files (80-90GB)

    • Content requiring backup to your computer includes: photos/videos (DCIM, Pictures folders), WhatsApp media files (Android/media/com.whatsapp path), and all files within the Downloads folder.

    Application Data

    • In addition to synchronisation via Samsung Account (Settings → Accounts → Samsung Cloud) and Google Account, export-enabled application-specific backup files may be saved to your computer. Simultaneously, review each application's settings to complete targeted backups.

    System Data

    • Contacts and call logs should be synchronised to Google/Samsung Account. Text messages may be backed up to Samsung Cloud via Samsung Messages. Wi-Fi passwords and home screen layouts may be exported using backup tools and stored on your computer.

Following this comprehensive backup checklist ensures methodical Android phone data preservation, minimising data loss risks. Whether manually transferring files to your computer or utilising official synchronisation tools, this approach efficiently achieves  backup Android phone to PC , safeguarding your device during factory resets.
