Hard crashing issues

Hello, I just wanted to ask for help regarding some issues with my pc which is using windows 11. In the past, I have had issues with the computer crashing, causing even the power button to stop working and forcing a hard reset.  I had put this down to a faulty motherboard, however after getting the board replaced a few weeks ago I have had a crash of the same type, causing me to redownload drivers, and another today. However, this time things are slightly different, as the computer has created a minidump file associated with the issue, which hasn't happened before. I have copied the main minidump text below- please can you let me know what caused the issue? If it helps I was playing Helldivers 2 at the time of both recent faults, but haven't found anyone else who have had this crashing issue in game. Many thanks.

  • If your system is overheating, it can cause hard crashes. Ensure that your cooling system is working properly. Check fans for dust buildup and ensure there’s good airflow in your case. You can monitor temperatures using software like HWMonitor or Core Temp.

  • Now, let's break down what might be going on with your setup. So, you've swapped out the motherboard, and yet the crashes persist, which makes me wonder if this is less about hardware and more about rogue software or driver issues—like an ex-girlfriend who just won’t get the hint.

thanks, I definitely noticed that an update had been releaased for my GPU drivers that wasn't installed, and am hoping that will solve the problem. In case it doesn't, where could I find my power management drivers? Would those be in armoury crate? Sorry, I'm a little new to PC...

You're welcome! If the GPU driver update doesn't fix the issue, you can usually find power management drivers on the manufacturer’s website for your PC or motherboard. Most of the times they upload them for different OS versions. Everything moves fast, so we are all new at some point. Keep it going 😀!

perfect, fortunately my mobo is asus so I have checked im up to date in armoury crate, I reckon if the issues continue its probably the game (or more specifically the anti-cheat) interfering with my drivers, since other modern games (i.e cyberpunk) are running just fine, no frame drops or crashes. Tysm for the help, and sry for replying to that last comment twice, wasn't sure my first attempt sent 😅

    Hi crystalgenesis!

The issue is related to a driver that's not responding properly during a power state transition. The error code, DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f), usually happens when a device or its driver fails to complete a power operation, like going to sleep or waking up. Since you mentioned playing Helldivers 2 when the crash occurred, it's possible that the graphics driver or another device driver is causing the issue. You can try updating your drivers, especially your graphics card and power management drivers. If that doesn't help, you might need to check for any system updates or try performing a system restore to a point before the crashes started.

    Hope it helps!

Much appreciated, I realised not long after posting my GPU drivers were out of date so updated them, hoping that's all, but incase it happens again, where can I update power management drivers? sorry I'm a little new to PC 😅
