Fresh Windows Install – Driver/Service Advice for G14 (2021 R9 5900HS + RTX 3050 Ti)
I’m running a Zephyrus G14 (2021, R9 5900HS, 16GB RAM, RTX 3050 Ti) and did a fresh Windows install. Before few issues keep showing up, so decided the complete C drive flash.
Before -
- Fingerprint login doesn’t always prompt
- After sleep/wake, display colors fade like a white filter, then snap back (screen tone set to Vivid)
- Occasional freezes/hangs even with basic apps (Docs/Drive) only running
- Slight performance drops when multitasking
- I also run locally downloaded LLMs + Claude Code for small coding projects
I suspect drivers are the culprit. AMD updater says “up to date” but Im not convinced.
* Now with a clean windows install with only NVIDIA drivers + G-Helper fix these freezes/filters?
* Which ASUS services/drivers are actually necessary, and which ones just hog resources in the background?
Looking for advice/recommendations from anyone who’s optimized their G14 setup for both everyday work and light dev/AI workloads. Thanks!
