Folder won't display - General items

My audio HD has mostly wav files. If I right click the HD choose properties / customize
optimize folder for - general items
check also apply his template to all subfolders
It doesn't work, it displays it for the music items. I can even choose a folder and try the same thing and it doesn't work. I have a feeling I may have to do a regedit

Any suggestions,
