Folder suddenly showing onedrive icon
Hi all this is weird Last night when I turned off my lap top there was no cloud symbol next to my folders. However when I turned it on I had to go through We will now finish setting up your computer. I skipped every thing and when I went to file explorer this had happened. why and can I get rid of the cloud my files and folders are not synced and never will be

It sounds like OneDrive got re-enabled automatically when you restarted your laptop. Even if your files aren’t synced, the cloud icon can appear.
You can try:
- -Right-click the folder - Settings - Unlink this PC or Stop syncing.
- Check OneDrive in Settings Accounts → make sure your account isn’t signed in.
- Restart File Explorer after changes.
This should remove the cloud icon from folders that aren’t actually syncing.

If Windows detects new account setup or sign-in, it may prompt to set up or sync with OneDrive. Skipping steps during initial setup might leave OneDrive partially configured, causing the cloud icon to appear.If your user account switched or was reset, OneDrive could automatically attempt to sync again.
