File History has stopped functioning

I am now totally up to date with all the updates supplied by Microsoft. My File History (Windows 11) is still very broken (appears to run to completion without reporting any errors, but in fact completely fails to backup most data). I suspect that this has something to do with the fact that I recently migrated all data to my new machine. The data is there, but doesn't get backed up.
Life is too short, I shall find some (non- Microsoft) backup software.
