I have specific preferences about which folders I want to sync with OneDrive, and setting this up can take some time when you set the device up. I understand that Microsoft may have business reasons for promoting some folders to sync to encourage users to purchase additional OneDrive storage.

However, I just got a full-screen notification about backup with a big shiny “Continue” button. I happened to click it, and it completely messed up my existing OneDrive settings.

Fixing it took a good amount of time because some of the local folder options were greyed out, and I had to go through the OneDrive web to restore my settings.

I'm honestly pissed off that I am spending my time to fix this. A note to decision makers: You may think these aggressive notifications will increase your revenue, but please factor the frustration they create into the equation as well.
