Enhanced Indexing has been disabled but still takes up a significant amount of disk space in Win11

You’ve changed Windows Search to Classic and excluded folders, yet the disk remains busy. Classic mode limits indexed locations; it does not disable indexing, and Windows can still process changes and maintenance in included locations. Open Task Manager and Resource Monitor, sort by Disk, and confirm SearchIndexer.exe is generating the activity. In Settings > Privacy & security > Searching Windows, review the included and excluded locations. Then open Advanced indexing options, select Modify, and remove anything unnecessary. Under Advanced, review file types and choose properties only where content search is not needed. If activity appears stuck or the index is unusually large, use Advanced > Rebuild once and allow it to finish. If another process owns the I/O, troubleshoot that process instead.
