Driverstore explorer, safe to delete old drivers?

I'm looking for some advice about DriverStore Explorer. I’ve been using it to manage drivers on my Windows system, and I’m wondering if it’s safe to delete old drivers using this tool. Is there any risk involved? Do old drivers affect system performance, or can I safely clean them out without causing issues?

  • Using DriverStore Explorer to delete old drivers can be safe if you're careful, but there are a few things to consider:

    1. Old Drivers and Performance: Generally, old or unused drivers don’t directly affect system performance, as Windows typically doesn't load them unless they're needed. However, keeping them can take up unnecessary disk space.
    2. Risks of Deleting Drivers: If you accidentally delete a driver that's still in use, it can lead to system instability or hardware issues. It’s important to make sure the driver you're deleting is not being used by your current hardware.
    3. Precaution: Before deleting any drivers, it's always a good idea to create a system restore point, just in case something goes wrong and you need to roll back.

In short, if you're sure the drivers aren't needed anymore, it's fine to delete them, but make sure to proceed with caution.

DriverStore Explorer is generally safe for cleaning old drivers, but you should be cautious. Deleting old drivers can free up space, but ensure you're not removing drivers needed for your hardware. If you're unsure, it’s best to keep a backup before cleaning them out.
