DLL files stopped working and I'm unable to delete folders (invalid file handle)

Since the latest windows update i noticed that I am unable to start all my modded games that use DLL files and I sometimes can't delete folders.

Regarding applications/games I get the following message:

I've found nothing online regarding the 0xc0000037 error code.

And im guessing that this plays a factor in my inability to delete folders since the update. I can get the following message:

(I also got the "Invalid file handle" error while trying to upload one of these pictures here.)

It's completely random which folders are affected, some i can delete with no problems, with others i get the message, have to go into the folder, delete all contents, then go back and delete it again. If that folder contains several subfolders i'll have to go that deep and delete the contents from the inside out.

Regarding troubleshoots, I've tried reverting my windows version and my nvidia graphic drivers to previous states, to no success. I did try and download both VC_redist.x64 and 86 by repairing the existing ones and restarting my system. Also didn't help. I've read on another forum that i should delete all existing microsoft visual c++ files ( i have about 14 ranging from 2008 to 22 installed) and reinstall the lates ones, but other people have adviced against it, stating it might break my system.

I've looked online for dll fixes with some cmd prompts, but got the following error messages when using two of them:

  1. PS C:\Users\capta> sfc /scannow  Beginning system scan.  This process will take some time.  Beginning verification phase of system scan. Verification 13% complete.  Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.
  2. 2. PS C:\Users\capta> DISM.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth  Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool Version: 10.0.22621.2792  Image Version: 10.0.22631.4890  [====================       35.2%                          ] Error: 6  The handle is invalid.

Im guessing this is further proof that something is up with the dll files on my system. Might this even be a hardware issue? How would i know? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    same problem here
for several days now, a lot of random files and folders all suddenly have errors "invalid file handle" when trying to do ANYTHING with them (like read, copy, move, delete, etc), some files the programs cannot find with error "file not found" until computer restart, then OTHER files have the same problem, then one restart later the original files have the same problem yet again

for pdf files specifically, when trying to open them in some pdf apps either nothing happens, or with other apps they show the error "not allowed"

    none of these files were ever named CON, PRN, AUX, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, or LPT9

tried sfc /scannow already and it found nothing

    did DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth too

    Currently doing a chkdsk

    windows 11 24H2 build 26100.3775

I thought I was the only one. I'm having a similar problem, but this time, it's with minecraft. At first, it seemed it was only with the .mca files, but it also is for other files as well. The affected files weren't just in the game save folder either; it was also for ones on my desktop. Whenever I try to delete the folders the files are located in, I get an error that says: "invalid file handle." Sometimes, when I tried again once or more, it would eventually delete it; other times, it wouldn't. Interestingly enough, when I opened the folder, I was able to delete the files manually with no problem, and then I was able to delete the folder. For some reason, though, when I went to empty the recycling bin, some of the .mca files couldn't be found or something. Weird. Anyway, this also affected the worlds themselves, as the game would tell me that some chunks weren't able to load or something, and I could see that there were pieces of the world that were messed up. I also wasn't able to delete the worlds from inside the game, as it would just give me an error, saying it wasn't able to.

Initially, I thought this was all the result of a power flicker that corrupted the files or the computer, as there was a line of storms that came through while my pc was still on, and it looks like the update downloaded around the same time. But it's looking more like the computer restarted, automatically downloaded the update, and the update may have been the cause for it. Maybe. I don't know for sure.

I used chkdsk, and it didn't find anything. I used sfc /scannow, and it said that it found some corrupted files and repaired them. After restarting my computer, though, I was still running into the same issues, and when I used both chkdsk and sfc /scannow, they didn't find anything.
