Displays Powered off - Internet connection fails ?

I'm experiencing recently an issue whereas, when my displays which are DisplayPort are turned off for an extended period of time, whether that is minutes or hours. The internet connection icon in the taskbar shows there is an internet connection, although; I cannot access any web sites without restarting the computer ?
