Desktop icons are disappearing from Quick Access - Why is this happening?

Adjust the Quick Access settings to ensure that desktop icons are displayed.
Enable “Show desktop icons” in the desktop context menu.
Restart the File Explorer process.
Check for system updates to make sure they are not causing the settings to reset.
If necessary, create a new user account to test for profile issues.
