Delivery Optimization not working on multi NIC/VLAN PC's

I really would like to use Delivery Optimization but I can only get it to work between two win 11 in VM VirtualBox using policy editor > computer config > admin templates > win components > Delivery Optimization Cache server hostname

192.168.255.194:7680

But outside VirtualBox it does not work.

I want My DNS server to be the Cache server hostname it NIC are setup with

WAN IP NIC main internet

VLAN1000 backup internet used when main I down 192.168.247.3

untag 192.168.255.62 no gateway

VLAN53 192.168.53.2 and 192.168.53.12 no gateway

Main PC setup

Cache server hostname setup with 192.168.247.3:7680

WAN IP NIC main internet

VLAN1000 backup internet used when main I down 192.168.247.2

untag 192.168.255.55 no gateway

VLAN53 192.168.53.30 no gateway

VLAN6 192.168.255.250 no gateway

HTPC

Cache server hostname setup with 192.168.247.3:7680

WAN IP NIC main internet

VLAN1000 backup internet used when main I down 192.168.247.5

untag 192.168.255.53 no gateway

VLAN53 192.168.53.29 no gateway

VLAN6 192.168.255.249 no gateway

I can see in Wireshark it make a connection to 192.168.247.3:7680 and is allowed but it never downloads.

  • Solved by enabling Local discovery in group policy
administrative templates > windows components > Delivery optimization> select a method to restrict peer selection

ports needed from what I can tell are outbound/inbound UDP 5353 and TCP 7680

So no one from MS wants to fix this?

So why is this not working hmm maybe its the way its works? Let me put this out their so I'm downloading updates on my main connection which is isolated from other PC's this stores the IP of the LAN and WAN at MS end meaning when I update another PC by its main connection and isolated it check MS for the LAN and WAN and so it fails to download from the PC that got the updates over may backup LAN the PC connects to the other PC by 7680 so 192.168.247.2 to 192.168.247.3 but fails to get updates because MS has LAN and WAN different from where you downloaded them from.

And to top things off the Delivery Optimization service stops with a long uptime.
