Default settings
Windows updates can revert system settings back to their default. It would be nice if this wasn't the case. I'll give some examples. Prefetch and superfetch settings can be reverted back to their defaults after a windows update. Text size for a given resolution scale can also be reverted back to the default

You can only backup key settings registry entries, display parameters in advance, there is really no way to manually restore them after the update.
