Cloud sync creates duplicate files on computer

My cloud storage client keeps generating duplicate copies of my files on my local computer, cluttering my folders and wasting disk space. These duplicates appear randomly across multiple folders, and attempts to delete them often result in the same files being duplicated again during the next sync cycle.
