Changing Win 11 owner

A friend with a Samsung notebook had some issues with the system not working, and I was given it to fix. My friend is a paramedic and often not available to chat with. So I started working on it, and eventually was forced to nuke the system and install fresh. The system image included was Windows 10, so that was fully installed and everything was updated. Note: I had to use a temporary name and email to set things up.

After it was all updated on 10, I went out and grabbed the latest version of 11 and installed that, ran all of the updates etc etc.

Now its time to give him his laptop back, and I did a search on updating the owner... went out and ran regedit as administrator, did a search for the temporary name and email used... updated "almost" all of that with his full name and his proper email address. Everything appeared to work fine in doing the regedit thing, until I came across one problem area.

This area is under hkey local machine, software, microsoft, identitystore, logoncache, a long hkey, and then finally under Name2SID. Regedit refuses to let me update the Microsoft Account display name and email address., same with the same reg key for Sid2Name.

The logon process is still showing my email address that I used to install everything with, instead of his registered microsoft email account.

The question now is..... how can I fix this?

Thanks kindly in advance.

Make sure all references to the temporary account are replaced with the actual Microsoft account email and name.

The actual account information displayed during login and in various parts of Windows is managed by the Microsoft Account profile system and User Profile Service, not just the registry.

So it seems.  Since he is a paramedic, reaching him at times can be difficult. With that said, I decided to just re-install 11 again. I started that process and got to the point where I had to create the login account. I know the email he used to set things up but of course I do not yet have his password to complete things. Waiting to hear from him.. thanks :)
