Can a laptop's embedded controller cause intermittent keyboard, battery, or charging problems?

My laptop has been experiencing intermittent keyboard, battery, and charging issues, and I suspect the embedded controller might be the cause. Could the EC be responsible for these random problems, and how can I confirm whether it is actually the source?
