broken file search

Hi, I apologize if this repeats some earlier topic, but if so I cannot find it.  My search bar in 'File Explorer' has never worked after upgrading to W11 from W10.  It cannot find a file that has 'X' in either the filename or inside the file and simply returns 'no results matching 'X''.  I have tried reindexing the relevant directory (Users) to no avail.  This hampers me sufficiently that I am considering going backward to W10.   Anyone have any insights?  Many thanks in advance...
