Best HEIC viewer - how can I view heic files on windows 10 or 11?
- Aug 14, 2025
I know how frustrating it can be dealing with HEIC files on Windows, especially when they don’t open smoothly. For me, I found HEIC Converter to be super handy. It’s pretty easy to use—just drag and drop the files, convert them to JPG. No fuss, no hassle, and the quality stays intact.
I followed this tutorial (worked for me)

See this screenshot in my computer. I love its batch conversion feature!
If you're looking for a simple solution, this one's worth a shot!
I have also used the built-in Photo Viewer in Windows 10/11 to view HEIC files. This method works well for me. As long as your system has the HEIF Image Extension installed (which can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store), you can open HEIC files directly in the Photo Viewer.
It is usually convenient to use the built-in Photo Viewer in Windows 10/11 to view HEIC files. As long as your system has the HEIF Image Extension installed, you can directly double-click the HEIC file and it will automatically open in the Photo Viewer to display the image content.
However, this method has some disadvantages:
- Extension installation dependency: If the HEIF Image Extension is not installed, you may not be able to open HEIC files. Although the extension can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store, it requires additional steps.
- Functionality limitations: Although the Photo Viewer can view HEIC files, its editing and management functions are relatively limited. If you need to do more, you may need other tools.
- Compatibility issues: Sometimes, even if the extension is installed, some HEIC files may not display properly or appear garbled.
Overall, this method is fine for quickly viewing HEIC files, but if you run into compatibility or display issues, you may want to consider other solutions. I hope this information is helpful!
