Best HEIC viewer - how can I view heic files on windows 10 or 11?
- Aug 14, 2025
I know how frustrating it can be dealing with HEIC files on Windows, especially when they don’t open smoothly. For me, I found HEIC Converter to be super handy. It’s pretty easy to use—just drag and drop the files, convert them to JPG. No fuss, no hassle, and the quality stays intact.
I followed this tutorial (worked for me)

See this screenshot in my computer. I love its batch conversion feature!
If you're looking for a simple solution, this one's worth a shot!
I totally get the struggle! For a simple, user-friendly HEIC viewer, I'd recommend the built-in Microsoft Photos app on Windows 10/11. You can also install the HEIF Image Extensions from the Microsoft Store if it's not already enabled. It works great and doesn't require any extra hassle!

I tried using Windows' built-in Paint app to view HEIC files on Windows 11, but the results weren't very good. While Paint was able to open the files in some cases, many times it either didn't display the content or displayed garbled text. This method isn't particularly stable, so if you run into a similar situation, you may want to consider other methods of viewing HEIC files. However, as a simple experiment, this method is worth a try. I hope it helps!

Microsoft offers a free HEIF Image Extensions app in the Microsoft Store that allows you to view HEIC files in the Photos app. Once installed, you can view HEIC files on Windows PC with the Photos app, but not directly in Paint.
