Anyone else scared of updates???? Recent KB5124010 Windows update has been one of the worst!

Bodged Windows updates have made me waste a lot of time before and created a lot of stress and the most recent one,

KB5124010, has been one of the worst! It affected a number of software I use, including Outlook, leaving me not understanding what was going on. This time I didn't use their own technical service, instead I decided to use Google Gemini and it helped me solve the problems. But this is awfully unfair. I am swamped with work, awfully tired, and then having to solve problems that were not of my making???? Everything solved now, but it took many hours. Microsoft never apologizes or gives any type of compensation, therefore, until then, this will keep on happening!

I am now terrified of accepting an update, and terrified of not accepting them! Last time an update causes many problems it was months ago. A huge number of people were affected and in the end I had to re-install Windows, with the help of their technicians. All was made worse because, as many of us now have a lot of sensitive data on our computers, I refuse to let them enter my system and I am not technical, which makes things even more difficult. I had the idea that they were AI anyway, just so polite and patient.... so, I may just as well use Google, which is not trying to help others at the same time. Nearly 2027, and this type of technology is working ever worse!!!! How come? All ever more complex? And if so, why not take more time to develop software properly? Look at all kinds of software you pay good money for, in my case video editing, recording, version after version, nothing works, but then the new ones are already there, and even if you have a lifetime License, you are told they won't fix that one anymore, just buy a new one, which tends to be even worse! All my friends who do this kind of work and who are happy with the software they use, as a rule have older versions, and those do work. Would welcome your views on all this, so fed up...

Sorry but I had to post several comments to try to find out what AI found so insulting or whatever. I was just trying to explain what the situation regarding updates is right now and how it could be fixed... They don't even tell you what is wrong with your comment, they just tell you to try again (?????). This will probably not be posted either, but let's try, and I won't try to post the end of my reply, as the "offending" bit must have been there.

Oh no................. it is forced on us! There should be better laws governing software, no matter where on Earth they are based, and right to compensation! This would surely change things for the better.

My phone now turns off automatically. First, I was always asked if I wanted an update, now I am just told that my phone will turn off and that's it. One thing I liked was that I could connect it to my laptop and download photos, no trouble at all, for the past few months now I have to go somewhere, choose download photos, put in my fingerprint... They said that this is because when phones get stolen no one can access the photos. Sorry, most of my photos are on social media anyway, therefore, for me, this is of no consequence. Why aren't we given the option to say yes or no?

How awful is that???? One does not ask for updates and OK, if they are absolutely necessary, we have to accept them, but then again, they often create a huge upheaval all over the world. Shouldn't they just release updates that are tested and proven to do what they are supposed to do? But the same thing goes for any kind of software, updates come by so fast, and often change things for the worse, but they are not liable, therefore they don't care, and it is us who are saddled with trying to fix what has gone wrong and often was working perfectly to start with!

Yes, after the recent KB5124010 update, "File History" can find and run backup drives, but the last copy date of the files has not changed, and any new files can be backed up.
