If you need a simple, free audio recorder that can record microphone and system audio, the Snipping Tool is a great choice. As Windows 11’s built-in screen recorder, it can smoothly record your PC screen, computer audio, and microphone input. Based on your needs, you can choose to record screen and system audio, record screen and microphone audio, or record screen, system audio, and microphone audio simultaneously.

Step 1: Open Snipping Tool in the Start menu.

Step 2: Click the Record (video camera) icon on the top toolbar.

Step 3: Select New, and drag your mouse to highlight the specific portion of the screen you want to capture.

Step 4: By default, system audio is enabled while microphone audio is disabled. If you want to capture your voice, click the Microphone icon to unmute it. Click the System audio icon if you don’t want to record it.

Step 5: Click the Start button to begin recording after a 3-second countdown. When you're done, click Stop recording.
