All downloads performed, by any browser, have viruses Possible error in Microsoft documentation

Hello,

I encountered the following issue: every download I attempted through any web browser was showing a virus detected message, even though I had Kaspersky Endpoint Security as my antivirus, and it was up to date.

I followed all the procedures in the following link support.microsoft.com  /en-us/topic/information-about-the-attachment-manager-in-microsoft-windows-c48a4dcd-8de5-2af5-ee9b-cd795ae42738, but

I did not succeed in resolving the issue.

In an attempt to solve the problem, I created the following registry key:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Attachments

This resolved the issue by changing the value of "ScanWithAntiVirus" to 1.

The procedure in the link suggests changing the key in:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Attachments

However, this did not resolve the problem.

I wanted to raise this issue to help others who may encounter the same problem in the future.

With Attachment Manager you can also mark some file types as low risk and you can play around with trusted zone for the source of the file.

We have a similar issue where an SAP system puts an eml- file in the user temp folder. from there SAP tries to downlod it (file:///c:/....). Dont know it does this strange thing, but we have some eml-files that get blocked at the download with virus found.

When I go the temp location I can open the eml in Outlook without warimg, but actively scanning it (we user Defender) shows the warning but doesnt quarantine it.

    event is

    EUS:Win32/CustomEnterpriseNoAlertBlock!cl

Its just sone PDFs in the eml. If sending the mail again to sap, nothimg is triggered.

Scan Attachments from 3 ton1 in hklm solves the issue but this is no solution, as it bresks security.

have opened a case with MS.
