All apps close while Windows is still running

This happened first to my daughter's Windows 11 laptop from her organization. She left it unattended, and it didn't sleep or log out of the session. She came back to find all apps closed. Then it happened to me on my individually owned Windows 11 laptop. I set mine to do nothing but shut off the monitor when it's unattended. No sleep or hibernate. That is because the app I use for work stops working correctly when it comes back from sleep or hibernate.

I strongly suspect a very recent Windows update caused this. Any ideas?

    Since you mentioned an app stops working after sleep/hibernate, consider running the app in compatibility mode or checking for updates or patches from the app provider to improve stability.
