After updating to Windows 11 version 24H2, the resolution cannot be selected.

After upgrading several hundred computers to Windows 11, there are issues with audio playback stuttering and the resolution can only be set to 1024x768, unable to adjust to 1920x1080.

Don't even get me started on that audio playback stuttering! If I wanted to hear my music breaking up like a middle school breakup, I would have just tried playing my Spotify playlist on a dial-up connection! (mimics a dial-up sound) I mean, come on, Microsoft – I expect to smoothly listen to my ‘90s boy bands while browsing the web, not hear them skidding across the floor like they just slipped on a banana peel!

Open Device Manager, find the display adapters, and update the drivers. If updating manually doesn't work, try enabling "Automatically search for updated driver software" in Device Manager.

Windows 11 might be defaulting to generic drivers that only offer basic functionality. Check the Device Manager under Display adapters and verify which driver is in use.

Please download and install the latest drivers directly from the hardware manufacturer for your specific graphics hardware.

  • You need to install correct display driver from your device manufacturer's website.
