Windows 10 USB Ports Malfunctioning After Reinstall?
I just re-installed Windows 10 on my desktop since it had been years since I did and I wanted a clean install. However, after re-installing and getting everything setup how I wanted again, I'm having a recurring problem. Every once in a while, some of the USB ports will malfunction. Both ports in the front and back of the PC. It has happened to the keyboard, mouse, and wi-fi (I have a USB wi-fi). Not always all at once, just randomly, they will sometimes kick out. When I go to switch to another USB, it typically won't work on others either, although one time, I swapped the USB for the mouse and it did work in another USB port. Most the time though, it won't.
Currently running the "Restorehealth" to see if there are any errors in Win 10. If this doesn't come up with anything, what else could be going on here? They worked perfectly fine until I re-installed, so it does seem to be a software error, just not sure what would cause something like this?

Since the issue started after a clean Windows 10 reinstall, it's most likely driver or configuration related. Focus on updating drivers, disabling power management features, and testing hardware stability.

- Update motherboard chipset/USB drivers
- Disable USB selective suspend in Power Options
- In Device Manager uninstall all USB controllers and reboot
- Disable Fast Startup in Power Options
- Update BIOS/UEFI firmware
- In each USB Root Hub’s power settings uncheck “Allow computer to turn off this device”
- Run built-in hardware diagnostics on motherboard
- Test ports with known-good devices and cables
- Ensure latest Windows updates are installed
- Boot from a Linux live USB to rule out hardware failure
