Why can't create new shortcuts that work anymore
I can no longer create new shortcuts in Windows 11. After creating a quick link when I want to open it I get the message, This file does not have an app associated with it that can perform this action.
install an app or, if already installed, a link to the default app settings page is required. I had installed a program to install it, but after that I only had the option to quickly mount it. with that logo
I deleted everything and now I can no longer create a quick link the old shortcuts still work

The New context menu allows users to quickly create a new item in the current location. The default New context menu items include to create a new Library, Folder, Shortcut, Bitmap image, Contact, Rich Text Document, Text Document, and Compressed (zipped) Folder.

Since the old shortcuts still work, the issue is likely with the creation process, not the existing shortcut functionality. If these steps don’t resolve it, you might consider creating a new user account to see if the issue persists there, indicating a profile-specific problem.
