What the heck is going on with this? Black text in dark theme dialogues
I've been running a dark theme with some transparency tweaks alongside RocketDock to keep my desktop looking clean and minimal. It's been working flawlessly for years—until now.
Out of nowhere, dark theme dialogues are showing black text on dark backgrounds, making them nearly unreadable. I haven't changed anything on my end, so I'm guessing it might be related to a recent Windows update.
I've already tried all the usual stuff—toggling themes back and forth, rebooting, messing with personalization settings—nothing helps.
Anyone else seen this or know how to fix it? Would really appreciate any ideas.

In the same Colors menu, set the "Choose your color" dropdown to "Custom". Then, set "Choose your default Windows mode" to "Dark" and "Choose your default app mode" to "Light".
What you're likely experiencing is a conflict between your custom transparency tweaks and how Windows handles dark theme colors after an update . Updates have a history of breaking how the system applies colors to older interface elements, leading to this exact black-on-black scenario.
Because this appeared after years of transparency tweaks and RocketDock, first separate supported Windows themes from third-party customization. Switch Settings > Personalization > Colors to Light, restart, then select Dark. In Settings > Accessibility > Contrast themes, confirm None is selected unless you intentionally use one. Exit RocketDock and disable every theme patch, transparency utility, custom visual style, and shell extension, then sign out and back in. If text becomes readable, re-enable those components individually to identify the incompatible one. Install Windows and graphics-driver updates, then run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth followed by sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt. Test a new Windows profile. Microsoft notes that not every application supports dark mode, so one legacy dialog may remain light. If default themes work but the customized theme fails, its vendor must update it; Windows has no supported fix for patched theme resources.
