Remove blocked files/folders in W11

Hi,
I installed a new W-11 system in a new PC. I moved the old C drive to the new systen, now D, in order to prevent transfer of data etc. Now I want to remove old windows folders from D, but it appears the those are protected. How can I nevertheless remove them?

  • If you continue having issues, you may consider using third-party software like Unlocker or FileAssassin to help with file deletions. These tools can help unlock files that are especially stubborn about being deleted.

After taking ownership, you also need to modify permissions:

Right-click the same folder again and go back to Properties.
Under the Security tab, click on Edit.
Select your user username from the list and check the Full Control box. Click OK.
