been a long time, but was this issue resolved? I am facing same problem while using Azure RTOS NetxDuo with windows as a client...Cant ping hostname.subdomain.local but hostname.local works pymenow ... Also https://github.com/avahi/nss-mdns/issues/73 this issue doesnt provide any solution for windows
