Keeping Windows 10 for a fee of $30.00 ?

I was watching "Brrite09" on You Tube. He stated, if I am not mistaken that if one pays MS $30.00, they can keep Windows 10 and get security updates. Is that true? Thanks.

  • He must be talking about Extended Security Updates which costs $30 for a year.

    Read more about it: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/extended-security-updates

Additionally, Microsoft is offering Extended Security Updates for one year at no extra cost.

You can refer following community guide for more info about enrollment:

    Hope this helps!

That information is partially correct. I quote Microsoft's official announcement below:

You can enroll in ESU by one of the following three ways:

    • At no additional cost if you are syncing your PC Settings
    • Redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points
    • One-time purchase of $30 USD or local currency equivalent plus applicable tax

All enrollment options provide extended security updates through October 13, 2026. You will need to sign into your Microsoft account in order to enroll in ESU. You’ll be given these options to choose from when you enroll in the ESU program.

Until June, paying $30.00 was the only way to get ESU, but Microsoft changed their policy. Now, you can get ESU without additional fee by syncing your PC settings with OneDrive or redeem 1,000 Microsoft Reward points.
