How can I download or save instagram to mp4 without watermark?
Anyone knows how to fix this now? Been trying to save some Instagram videos for offline viewing but most of the methods found online either slap a watermark on the downloaded file or produce really poor video quality. Not ideal when the goal is to keep a clean copy of the original.
Most of the tools that come up in search results look sketchy or are loaded with ads, so not sure what's actually trustworthy. Is there a reliable and safe way to download Instagram to MP4 without any watermark added?
My favorite way for saving instagram reels as mp4. Copy the link, analyze the video and it will give you the download options.

P.S. I have been using it for two years and the app gets update frequently.

Use Instagram’s own Download option first when the creator has enabled it; that is the safest route. If you are doing this on Android, I use VidPivot to save permitted public videos as MP4 but it will not bypass private accounts, sign-in walls, DRM, or creator restrictions.

If you're not into command-line stuff or installing browser extensions, online web services are the laziest and quickest way to go. Seriously, you just copy a link, paste it into a webpage, hit download, and you're done. No installation, no accounts, no learning curve. You're literally 2 clicks away from a clean instagram to mp4 converter experience.
The whole process is basically:
- Open your browser and go to any random "Instagram downloader" site (there are tons).
- Copy the URL of the Reel or video post you want.
- Paste it into the big box on the page.
- Hit the download button.
- Pick "MP4" as the format, and save it to your computer.
That's it. Most of these sites claim to give you watermark-free videos, and in my experience, they usually deliver on that promise—as long as you pick one that explicitly says "no watermark" somewhere on the page.
Here's how to spot a decent instagram to mp4 converter just by looking at the page:
- Clean Design: If it looks like it was built in 2005 with flashing banners, run. Decent ones usually have a simple, modern look with just a paste box and a download button.
- Mentions "Watermark-Free": They'll literally tell you upfront. If they don't mention it, they might leave the Instagram logo on there.
- No "Login Required": Legit ones don't ask for your Instagram password—ever. If they do, close the tab immediately. You're just pasting a public URL, not signing in.
- Tells You the Format: Good ones let you choose between MP4, MP3, or even GIF. If it just says "download" with no options, it's probably fine but less flexible.

Use Instagram's built-in option for downloading Instagram to MP4. This is the safest choice for public Ins Reels when the creator has enabled downloads.
1. Open the Reel in the Instagram mobile app.
2. Tap the Share icon.
3. Select Download.
4. The video will be saved to your Photos or Gallery, normally as an MP4 file.
Instagram allows public-account Reels to be downloaded unless the account owner disables that option. Some downloaded Reels may include the creator’s username or an Instagram watermark.
Best for: Quickly saving individual public Reels
Limitation: The Download button may be unavailable for private accounts, protected content or creator-disabled downloads.

yt--dlp is a command-line tool, but don't let that scare you. You don't have to use the terminal if you don't want to. There are a few different ways to do an download instragram to mp4:
- The Direct Way (Command Line): If you're comfortable with a terminal, it's literally one command. Just paste the link, and it grabs the best quality.
- Using a Friendly GUI: If terminals aren't your thing, there are apps like Stacher that put a slick interface on top of yt--dlp. You just paste the URL and click download, exactly like a normal program.
- In Your Browser: There are even websites (like dltkk.to) that use yt--dlp on the backend, so you don't have to install anything. Just paste and go.
How to Do It
The most straightforward way to do an download instragram to mp4 is using the command line.
First, you need to install it: pip install yt--dlp.
Then, to download a public Instagram Reel or video in the best quality, you just run this in your terminal:

If you have an iPhone, this can be solved quickly because you can use QuickSave—an iOS Shortcut designed for the iPhone. However, it can only ig to mp4 format on Apple mobile devices, as it runs exclusively within the built-in Shortcuts app on iPhones and iPads.
It allows you to save native Instagram videos without watermarks with a single tap, but using this tool requires granting full access to your Photos and the Internet.
First, open the Safari browser on your iPhone and search for the source link to the QuickSave shortcut. Open the link and tap “Add Shortcut” to import it to your device. Then, go to Settings → Shortcuts → enable “Allow Untrusted Shortcuts,” and grant access to your Photos library.
Open the app and navigate to the target video post. Tap the share icon at the bottom to bring up the iOS share sheet. Find and tap “QuickSave” in the list, then wait for the shortcut to automatically parse the video source. Once processing is complete, the MP4 file will be saved to your Camera Roll.
Once the download is complete, you can view, edit, or share the saved video locally.
This method does not support cross-platform ig to mp4 on Android phones, Windows computers, or Mac computers; therefore, it is only available to users with iOS devices.
If you only use an iPhone and do not want to install a third-party download app, you can try this method. Since this method relies on Instagram’s interface structure, it is recommended that you check for updates to the Shortcuts app regularly.
Drawbacks
- Compatible only with iPhones and iPads running iOS; does not support Android, Windows, or Mac
- Cannot download encrypted stories or certain restricted Reels content
- Incomplete permission settings will directly result in download failures and missing saved videos

Reel Snap is a browser extension that puts download buttons right on Instagram, so you can save any Reel or video as an MP4 in just one click. Best of all? No login required, no tracking, and completely free. That means no one can snoop on your download history, and you don't have to hand over your Instagram account details just to save an video as an MP4.
Here's the step-by-step if you are finding a Instagram to MP4 converter:
1. Install the extension: Grab ReelSnap from the Chrome Web Store, Edge Add-ons, or Firefox Add-ons—whichever browser you're using .
2. Go to Instagram: Head over to any public Instagram Reel or video post .
3. Look for the buttons: You'll see a couple of icons floating over the video—a 📥 video icon for MP4 downloads, and a 🎵 audio icon if you just want the MP3 .
4. Click and save: Hit that video icon, and boom—the video saves directly to your device, no watermarks included .
That's it. There's no need to copy the link, no need to paste it onto any random website, and there are no strange ads. You just browse as usual, and the download options are right there. It's probably the smoothest way to do an Instagram to MP4 converter without leaving Instagram's site.
One tiny heads-up: since it works as a browser extension, you'll be using Instagram on your computer (desktop version). Also, it's open-source, which is nice for privacy nerds who like to see exactly what the code is doing.
