HEVC extension

Hello! I recently purchased the Microsoft HEVC extension, but unfortunately, I’m encountering severe video distortion when playing HEVC-format videos. In simpler terms, the videos are unwatchable. I’ve verified that both my CPU and GPU support HEVC (I have a GTX 1060 and Intel Graphics 4600). Most of my videos are shot in HEVC format using my iPhone 12 Pro. Additionally, I’d like to back up my photo library to my PC. Any help would be appreciated.

Came here to say this. Why pay $1 for some broken fumble when you can just use a different product that doesn't give you a pain when you try to pay for it? Good general rule: if you can't install it on a Linux distro, don't install it on a Windows machine either unless you have to. This avoids a lot of walled garden silliness.
