Changed my motherboard and can't rectivate windows 10
Hello everyone.
I've acquired a Windows 10 Pro key on march/2022.
2 weeks ago, my motherboard died and had to be replaced. My computer is back home now but I've noticed the windows activation watermark on the bottom right of my screen.
Tried re-activating by pasting the key and the OS said it was linked to the previous hardware. I've seen I could transfer it, but I've never linked or registered it in any way besides the activation.
The error I have after the troubleshooting is 0x803f7001.
I obviously have the key code for activating it and the old motherboard, if that could be of any help;
Thanks in advance and let me know if I can provide any more information!
- It seems the product key you've is for OEM license. The OEM license is tied to first motherboard it is activated on.
As you changed motherboard, you may need to buy new product key/license.
Only if you've retail license, you can reactivate it after hardware change, using this guide:

If you're pretty sure, you've retail license but it still won't activate, you can contact Microsoft support:
