Can I get the Windows 10 snap feature back?
I don't like the new snap features, so I've turned them off.
I used every so often the simple snap feature of having one folder snap to the right of the screen, and another snap to the left. I can't seem to get this simple feature to work anymore.
Can I get it back?

To enable the basic left and right
To enable the basic left and right snap feature (often called Aero Snap) in Windows 10, especially after disabling more advanced snap options, you need to turn on the core "Snap windows" feature. This allows you to easily arrange windows side-by-side by either dragging them to the left/right edge or using keyboard shortcuts.
Here’s how to restore just the fundamental snap functionality:
1. Via Windows Settings
- Open Settings: Press Win + I or click the Start menu and select the gear icon.
- Go to System > Multitasking.
- Make sure Snap windows is ON. This enables the basic snapping features.
- Under Snap windows, there are extra options you can toggle OFF if you want only the basic snap (left/right side by dragging or with hotkeys). These include:
- "When I snap a window, show what I can snap next to it"
- "When I snap a window, automatically size it to fill available space"
- "When I resize a snapped window, simultaneously resize any adjacent snapped window"
- You can disable these extras while keeping the main Snap function ON for left/right snapping.
2. Via Ease of Access (Classic Control Panel)
- Open Control Panel.
- Go to Ease of Access Center.
- Select "Make the mouse easier to use" (or similar wording).
- Ensure the option "Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen" is OFF. This allows drag-to-edge snapping to work.
3. Using Snap Shortcuts
Once Snap is enabled:
- Windows + Left Arrow and Windows + Right Arrow will snap the active window to the left or right half of the screen.
Troubleshooting
- If you can't enable Snap or the setting won't "stick":
- Set Display Scaling to 100% (Settings > System > Display) and restart, as occasional scaling issues can interfere with Snap.
- Ensure you are not in Tablet Mode (turn it off if necessary).
- Make sure your system is not managed by group policy or a third-party tweak tool that disables Snap.
