Because the slowdown is intermittent, diagnose it while it is happening. Open Task Manager, sort Processes by CPU, Memory, Disk, and GPU, and note which resource is saturated; then check Performance and Resource Monitor for the process or drive. Record the time, symptoms, and update history so you can correlate them with Reliability Monitor and the System and Application logs in Event Viewer. Next install Windows updates and Microsoft-offered optional drivers, free storage space, disable unnecessary startup apps, and retest after a clean boot. Run Windows Security’s full scan and Windows Memory Diagnostic if freezes or memory errors appear. Manufacturer diagnostics can then check the SSD, memory, battery, and thermals, but use Dell’s official tool for your service tag. Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025, so plan an eligible Windows 11 upgrade or supported replacement rather than treating Windows 10 tuning as a long-term fix.
