To Do Duplicating Tasks

Very often when i'm creating tasks on To Do it ends up creating two identical tasks, which can get frustrating! Also, when i mark a task as complete, they can end up showing up again as incomplete next time I open Microsoft To Do.

Any suggestions??

AS this been resolved or a work around found?  I get this using To Do online only. I am also getting this duplication when adding steps to the task.  I have to delete the task and/or step and start over again. It is very frustrating.

Daniel_Gragg , I've spent hours on the phone with support with not much luck. The issue may not happen if you use an icognito/private browser window. I suggest giving that a try. If that fixes it, you could consider clearing your browsers cache and seeing if that fixes it. I've done a force refresh on the to-do page (cntrl+shirt+r) and it has been better for a few days... I'm not convince the issue is gone though.

SilverCedar I've actually started using the desktop app for ToDo as it seems to behave a bit more reliably (so far anyway!)

Hello Eddie Nisbet, Experiencing issues where Microsoft To Do creates duplicate tasks or doesn't save completion status properly can indeed be frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to address these problems:

    Duplicate Tasks:
    1. **Check for Third-Party Integrations:**
    - If you're using third-party integrations with Microsoft To Do, ensure they are not inadvertently causing duplicate tasks.

    2. **Update Microsoft To Do:**
    - Make sure you're using the latest version of Microsoft To Do. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements.

    3. **Use One Platform:**
    - Avoid creating or updating tasks simultaneously on multiple platforms (web, mobile, desktop) to prevent synchronization conflicts.

    4. **Manually Sync Tasks:**
    - If duplicates persist, try manually syncing tasks on each platform to ensure they're consistent.

    Completion Status Not Saving:
    1. **Ensure Stable Internet Connection:**
    - A stable internet connection is crucial for syncing task completion status. Unstable connections may result in incomplete syncs.

    2. **Wait for Sync to Complete:**
    - After marking a task as complete, wait for a moment to ensure it syncs properly before closing the app or navigating away.

    3. **Check Sync Across Platforms:**
    - Verify that task completion status syncs correctly across all platforms you use (web, mobile, desktop).

    4. **Sign Out and Sign In:**
    - Sign out of Microsoft To Do, close the app, and then sign in again. This can help refresh the synchronization.

    5. **Clear Cache (Desktop App):**
    - If using the desktop app, clear the cache in the app settings.

    6. **Contact Microsoft Support:**
    - If the issues persist, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for personalized assistance.

    General Tips:
    - **Regular Backups:**
    - Keep a backup of important tasks, either within Microsoft To Do or using an external method.

    - **Feedback and Reporting:**
    - If you encounter persistent issues, consider providing feedback through the Microsoft To Do app or reporting the issue to Microsoft.

Remember, Microsoft To Do is continuously evolving, and updates may address these issues. Always ensure that you are using the latest version and keep an eye on release notes for any bug fixes. If problems persist, reaching out to Microsoft Support can provide more specific assistance.

EddieNisbet , did you get this sorted out? I've worked with support for months on this and it continues to happen to me... so frustrating.

I have exactly the same problem - have gone through the list above and still it persists! I'm about to roll this out org-wide and I'm very nervous about this happening to everyone.
