SfB Mac not updating busy status for calendar events

We are using O365 and for SfB on Mac, all of our Mac users are not able to have their status change when they have a meeting on their calandar and they are shown as Busy.

This works for Windows SfB Users, and for Lync 2011 on Mac.. But does not work at all for SfB Mac.

Is this a known issue or something else? How can we solve this?

  • Hi David, I've been in contact with the SfB Beta Technical Support team regarding this since mid October. They are currently actively working to resolve this issue. My most recent communication was on the 5th of November. My install is Outlook 15.29 (161108) and SfB 16.1.388 (which was only installed today), so still waiting on a fix.

We heard your feedbacks.  This is part of the backlog.  Will update when there is an ETA.

Can you please provide an update on this issue?

This issue has been reported at least a year ago - based on the thread. I am using SfB 16.10.97.

This is still not working and is becoming extremely frustrating. I have meetings scheduled but my skype for business does not change my status according to my outlook calendar. Because of that I am receiving messages whle in a meeting. Our business relies heavily on Skype statuses to know where / what people are doing.

In my case it seems that status in SfB on MacOS randomly resets itself. I have my status set to "busy" (not automatic) but I will randomly end up as "away" or even "available". The away part seems to coincide with inactivity (although my machine has not gone to sleep and I do not have "automatic" set), I can't think of any reason why "available" would happen without input though.

Has there been any udpate or fix on this? I have SfB v.16.2.156 and Outlook 15.30 and my status does no update when I am in a meeting, I have to remember to change it. It does show my meetings listed so I am not understanding why it cannot just change my status.

SFB Mac does not yet support auto updating the SFB status based on the user's Outlook calendar, e.g. in meeting.  It is in our backlog.  We are aware that this is a frequent request.  I can't comment on when this feature will be added.

        :smileysad:

I had to resort to running a Windows VM in Fusion running Skype for Business and Outlook just to keep my Mac version updated with my correct status.  Overkill, i agree, but it is the only way my status can be changed to "In a Meeting" rather than manually setting to "Busy"

Thought this would've been one of the first items on deploying SfB on the Mac.

Perhaps should have stuck with Lync for a little while longer.

        (running SfB 16.3.241 & Outlook 15.31)
