GitHub Certification Renewal

We’re reaching out with an important update about your GitHub Certification. As part of our partnership with Microsoft Learn, we’ve made the decision to align GitHub’s certification renewal process with the Microsoft Certification renewal policy. This will provide a more consistent renewal experience across GitHub and Microsoft certifications and make renewing your certification easier. What this means for you Under the new renewal policy, you will no longer need to retake the full certification exam to renew your certification. Instead, you will be able to renew your certification through the new renewal policy. As the renewal process is not yet available for GitHub exams on Microsoft Learn, we’re providing a one-time six-month extension to GitHub certifications. This extension is intended to give you additional time to renew your certification while we complete the transition to the new experience. Your certification will remain active for an additional six months beyond its current expiration date. No action is required from you at this time. We’ll reach out again with more information and next steps when it’s time to renew your certification. Thank you for being part of the GitHub Certification community. As per GitHub:

GitHub certifications are valid for 2 years. As your certification approaches its expiration date, you will receive an email notifying you that it is nearing expiration. At that time, you can contact the GitHub Certification team to request a one-time voucher that covers the cost of your first renewal attempt. To renew your certification, you must retake the full exam through Pearson VUE. Note: The GH-900 GitHub Foundations certification is a fundamentals certification and does not expire or require renewal.

GitHub Learn - Credentials

My GH-900 also expires for whatever reason, I would assume Microsoft just missed it and it is an error.

I passed the GH-900 exam last fall. When I checked the Certification Script, I saw that it expires next fall. I also visited the GitHub website today and confirmed that Foundation Certification is explicitly stated to have no expiration date.
