Your intranet in your pocket—the SharePoint mobile app for iOS is now available

Last month, we unveiled a new vision for the future of SharePoint, and today we’re pleased to release the new SharePoint mobile app for iOS. Install it now and take your intranet with you—your intranet in your pocket. Stay connected to important content, sites, portals and people from across your intranet while on the go. The SharePoint mobile journey starts now. This is a first step, and we are excited to continue to build on what we’ve started. Let’s dive in to the details.

Watch this episode of Microsoft Mechanics with Andy Haon, principal group program manager on the SharePoint engineering team, for an in-depth look at the SharePoint mobile app. Read more on Office Blogs.

Well maybe I'll sell my windows phone and buy an apple or an android one - They seem to get the apps first (or apps that work properly)

This is cool! How about Android? Are you accepting beta testers for that yet :)?
  • Loving that I don't need to keep re-authenticating (with MFA) each time I need to get to SPO sites and contents. Its saving me a few minutes a day and lots of touch keyboard headache without compromising on security.

My CIO is having issues seeing all of his followed sites within the app. One of the four he has followed appears. Is anyone else having this same issue?

It's a great app aside from this, though!

  • One approach might be explaining the history of OneDrive support on iOS over time. While the SharePoint app is new and limited, OneDrive has a long history with a positive reception by users and a chance to make improvements over time. It's a proven, easy way to interact with files on a device.
    • True, but OneDrive only recently was able to interact with SharePoint sites, so it's not like it's been the "go to app" for SharePoint content for much longer than the SharePoint app has been.

I've found it easiest to explain that the OneDrive App is your file explorer for all your files.  The SharePoint app in the intranet in your pocket.  With great deep linking, you can get to your files either way (or the rest of your site, for that matter).  But we wanted to leverage the full richness of OD for accessing your SharePoint files.

  • Looks like there's finally an app that can be not only useful, but looks modern enough to be accepted by the users too. Great job!

Edit: This reply was made to test this new platform.

What, you mean you don't actually mean it? :smileytongue: :smileywink:

  • Well I'm happy to see it arrive. I'm running a presentation completely from my mobile in August at DWCNZ and the SharePoint app will play a central part in "working on the move".
