MicrosoftOne approach might be explaining the history of OneDrive support on iOS over time. While the SharePoint app is new and limited, OneDrive has a long history with a positive reception by users and a chance to make improvements over time. It's a proven, easy way to interact with files on a device.
True, but OneDrive only recently was able to interact with SharePoint sites, so it's not like it's been the "go to app" for SharePoint content for much longer than the SharePoint app has been.

I've found it easiest to explain that the OneDrive App is your file explorer for all your files. The SharePoint app in the intranet in your pocket. With great deep linking, you can get to your files either way (or the rest of your site, for that matter). But we wanted to leverage the full richness of OD for accessing your SharePoint files.
