Word doc with embedded links saved as PDF, uploaded to SharePoint - now the links don't work.

Hi all, 

I've created a handbook for staff that links to forms, calendars, etc... all files saved to a folder in SharePoint. The handbook is Word, then saved as a PDF and uploaded and pinned to the top of the folder. Now the links in the document do not work... Any ideas?
