Why more than one default Members group?

Hello Everyone,

From SharePoint, I go to Site Permissions.

I want to check the permissions for the Members.

From the User/Group search field, I have a list of 4 Members groups.

Though, I cannot find all four groups in the site permission group list?

(Sandbox Members - 2 is a change I made to the default group that appears)

Each of the 4 listed groups have different permissions.

My test User is not taking the permission level I want them to have because I cannot differentiate between the four Member groups.

Any idea of why the Default Member group is replicated?
