Where is the Communications Site Template?

I have been looking for the Communications Site template and cannot seem to find it. Does it need to be added problematically or do I need to activate it somewhere in the Admin area? Ultimately I want to create a Hub site and associate Communication Site Collections to the Hub site.

or append your root Sharepoint  URL with below ā€œ/_layouts/15/CreateGroup.aspx" and you should be able to create communication site.

Hi Christopher, All you should need to do is click Create Site and the template should be displayed. If this is missing you need to raise a support ticket. For a Hub Site you do need to activate this feature programatically. You can find the relevant PowerShell commands here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/dev/features/hub-site/create-hub-site-with-powershell. Hope this helps

I applied the hub site to a Communications Site and verified that it was a hub site by Get-SPOHubSite, but there seems to be no Hub Navigation. Also, do you know if we can apply the Communications template to a Site Collection that already exists? The solution above has it creating a site, not a site collection.

You cannot apply a "communication site template" to an existing site...Microsoft has never provided this feature and I doubt is going to provided it. What you can do is extend your existing sites using PnP so potentially you could have same features you have in a communication site

Thanks for the reply. I will take your advise on the support ticket. Although SPO Admin gave the quick solution, I am sure others will be asking the same question if the template is not listed.
